Park Aide - Visitor Center

The Park Aide has a primary focus on visitor center support and visitor services at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center. The ideal candidate is patient, enjoys talking with the public, and appreciates people from a broad diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, and comfortable working individually as the primary point of contact with the public at the visitor center. This is a dynamic area of focus that includes some of the State’s most significant natural and cultural resources, and arguably some of the greatest conservation and access challenges found in the nation. We are looking for a candidate with a positive attitude that believes in the power of connection between community and the land, and is motivated to help deepen that connection through this work. The reporting area for this position is the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve headquarters at the visitor center in Imperial Beach, but also may include some activities at Border Field State Park, and Silver Strand State Beach.

Senior Park Aide - Visitor Center and Gift Shop

The Senior Park Aide includes a focus on supporting management and curation of the gift shop at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center. The ideal candidate has experience working in retail and art with tasks including product selection, purchasing, inventory management, and product display. The Senior Park Aide will focus on visitor services. The ideal candidate is patient, enjoys talking with the public, and appreciates people from a broad diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, and comfortable working individually as the primary point of contact with the public at the visitor center. The reporting area for this position is primarily the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve headquarters at the visitor center in Imperial Beach, but also may include some activities at Border Field State Park, and Silver Strand State Beach.

Volunteer Coordinator (Senior Park Aide)
Final Filing Date: August 6, 2026
The Volunteer Coordinator works on administrative duties related to the volunteer program at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, Border Field State Park, and Silver Strand State Beach, and with attention to the core programs of education, stewardship and maintenance, research, and coastal training and engagement, and campground operations. The Senior Park Aide for Volunteer Program Support provides essential support for core programs that fulfill the mission of California State Parks and the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve and works in collaboration with the Tijuana Estuary Foundation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and other partners.
