Border Field State Park is now open to pedestrians, equestrians, and bicyclists from 7 a.m. to sunset daily. It is also open to vehicles on the weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please check the Border Field State Park website for future updates.
Border Field State Park has been closed seasonally for years due to flooding and sewage releases through Goat Canyon/Cañon Los Laureles and Yogurt Canyon/Cañon Los Sauces. This challenge has increased in recent years, including impacts associated with Hurricane Hilary in August of 2023, and the 2023-2024 El Nino event. The 2025-2026 rainy season was relatively mild offering an opportunity to advance on trail maintenance and debris clean-up efforts necessary to open the Park. Thanks to the hard work of CA State Park maintenance and stewardship staff, Urban Corps of San Diego County, TRNERR Volunteers, and contracted operators with heavy equipment, the park is now open to pedestrians, equestrians, and bicyclists.
